Dyslexia THERAPY and Reading Tutor Katy, Texas

Where Students Experience Success!

Dyslexia Therapy and Intensive Reading Tutor Katy, Texas

Dyslexia can have different effects on children and adults as they grow and learn. If your child is a struggling reader, personal academic therapy or Structured Literacy tutoring from someone with training in Orton-Gillingham methods can help them experience increased success.

My name is Natalie. With over 20 years of experience working inside and outside the classroom, I offer intensive dyslexia therapy or Orton-Gillingham based / Structured Literacy tutoring near Katy, Texas, as well as the greater Houston area. This instruction is different from traditional tutoring and is intensive. I provide methodical dyslexia academic therapy using a Structured Literacy approach, which encompasses the Orton-Gillingham Approach. I am a Reading Therapist and a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), which means I have extensive training and experience that qualifies me to work with students who have difficulties with literacy, especially students with language-based learning disabilities and learning differences.

Dyslexia Therapy and Structured Literacy Intensive Reading Tutor

I provide evidence-based, multisensory academic therapy or Structured Literacy tutoring that is explicit, cumulative, and systematic. A diagnostic-prescriptive approach allows me to customize portions of programs to specifically fit the needs of each child and adult. I assess students' abilities and areas of needed support continually and prescribe appropriate instruction to address these needs and build upon their strengths. I use a Structured Literacy approach, which is the " most effective approach for students who experience unusual difficulty learning to read and spell printed words." 1 The content included are phonemic awareness, sound-symbol (phoneme-grapheme) correspondences, patterns and conventions of print (orthography), morphology, syntax, and semantics. This Structured Literacy approach meets the rigorous standards of the International Dyslexia Association and the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council.

Literacy is broken down into manageable patterns and structures in a systematic manner. Reading, writing, and spelling is taught in a way that is more accessible to the dyslexic learner as well as struggling readers. I have Orton-Gillingham based training from Neuhaus Education Center, more than 17 years of experience, and am certified in Texas as a Special Education, General Education, and ESL Teacher. Please see my about section to learn more about my experience.

The dyslexia tutoring, intensive reading lessons, and academic therapy I provide near Katy, Texas, are designed to give children and adults the tools they need to experience success with reading, writing, and spelling.

Dyslexia and Your Child

It can be difficult for parents to understand what steps to take to help their child learn and grow.

This learning difference manifests itself in different ways, and each child experiences its effects in an individual manner. For example, not only can it impact someone's reading ability, but it can also affect vocabulary acquisition and often affects his or her self-esteem.

With the proper methods, content, and a highly-trained instructor, children with dyslexia can be given the tools they need to overcome the challenges of this learning difference and prosper.

I've helped many families in Katy, Texas, understand their child's dyslexia and provided tutoring to help their child achieve success. Please visit my testimonials page to see how I've made a difference in students' lives.

One Testimonial:

“Natalie has been an answered prayer for our family. My 1st grader was really struggling with reading, spelling, writing and so was his confidence. Natalie started working with my son and I was so impressed with her knowledge, and ability to teach my son when nothing else has worked before.  My son is gaining confidence and gets so excited with each improvement. I would recommend Natalie to anyone who has a child who is struggling because she has really made a difference for our family!”
