My name is Natalie. I offer dyslexia academic therapy and intensive structured literacy dyslexia tutor sessions in the wider Houston area, including Cypress, TX. Based on over 19 years of experience in and out of the classroom, I have helped many children in the Houston area experience academic success. I offer intensive tutoring and academic therapy using Structured Literacy, which encompasses the Orton-Gillingham Approach. This instruction is different from traditional tutoring and is intensive.
How Does It Work?
I apply a Structured Literacy / Orton - Gillinham based approach, which is multisensory, explicit, systematic, and cumulative. A Structured Literacy approach is "the most effective approach for students who experience difficulty learning to read and spell." 1 This approach meets the rigorous standards of the International Dyslexia Association and the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council.
I have Orton-Gillingham-based training from Neuhaus Education Center, more than 17 years of experience, and I am certified in Texas as a Special Education, General Education, and ESL Teacher. I am a Reading Therapist and a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), which means I have extensive training and experience that qualifies me to work with students who have difficulties with literacy, especially students with language-based learning disabilities and learning differences. Whether it's dyslexia, dysgraphia, or other language-based learning or reading difficulties, I provide a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to students. This approach enhances individual progress by tailoring aspects of the program to address each child's specific needs. I also provide opportunities for children to showcase their strengths and build upon them!
